Strengthening Others

Every individual is unique – we all have different journeys that help define us, and we all face varying challenges to which our reactions assist us in determining our direction. As we learn to persevere throughout our pathways and overcome the hurdles in our lives, we gain insight as to who we are, our purposes, and our ambitions. What we discover helps us to not only develop our inner characters and strengths but also to form meaningful experiences that are meant to be shared. Since we are diverse, we have the ability to enlighten others through our individualistic encounters, to impart knowledge about what we have learned as we have confronted a variety of situations, and to empower others with the understanding that they can be victorious despite their obstacles. We are meant to learn from one another, grow with one another, and stand united despite our differences so that, when challenged with adversity, we are strong, optimistic, and triumphant. There is power in information, and, when we all begin to share what we have gone through, it can help us to form an alliance and begin to take the action that is needed to improve difficult situations. Yet, it is not always easy to share with others about the experiences through which we have travailed. Sometimes, we are afraid to speak up because we worry about what others will think about us, how others will judge us, and how others will start to treat us. While everybody should have the right to be treated with respect and dignity, reality often does not align with ideals, and some people are shunned for their unique attributes and the encounters which have been part of their lives’ journeys. When people have been shamed, scorned, and scrutinized, it is often difficult to get them to open up because they may feel undermined, unimportant, and unappreciated. We must encourage all people with compassion and understanding to be themselves, to express themselves constructively, and to contribute to positive growth. When we begin to appreciate others, as well as ourselves, and the contributions that we can all make by sharing our stories, then we will begin to prosper. Although we may find it difficult at first, as we continue to share our stories, it will become easier and less stressful. We will discover that we are not alone in our struggles and will ignite the flame for others to also championship the call. Contrarily, if we decide to internalize our emotions and neglect sharing our experiences with others, we not only halt progress, but we also run heightened likelihoods that our decisions to refrain from communicating with others about our encounters may lead us to feel increasingly isolated and dispirited. We are social beings meant to share our experiences. Every individual has an inner song to be sung, and we all have a significant part in promoting growth within the world.

Strengthening Others

Everybody wants to know there’s a place they belong
A place they can be themselves, a place they can sing their song
With love and acceptance, with peace and understanding
We lift our voices; united we sing
May this be a place where you can feel strong
May we light the pathway for all who come along
For we are all family, we are meant to stick together
No matter our differences, no matter the weather
One step at a time, our journeys we share
Cause we know the power that comes when we care
